Lynx and accented characters

Lynx is a text-mode HTTP client. It can be run directly from the command-line. You can visit any website with it.

To install it :

root@localhost:~# apt-get install lynx

Some accented characters may not be displayed correctly because the default character set for Lynx is not good. You have to change the character set in the /etc/lynx-cur/lynx.cfg file :

root@localhost:~# vi /etc/lynx-cur/lynx.cfg

Replace this line “CHARACTER_SET:iso-8859-1” by CHARACTER_SET:utf-8.

You should be able to read contents with accented characters.
